Auditions upcoming for C.A.T.S. Christmas show

Auditions for the C.A.T.S. Community Theatre Production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” will take place on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2:30 p.m. and on Monday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. in the Earl O. Horne Auditorium at The Colonial Center for Performing Arts.
This production has been sponsored by the Town of South Hill and the South Hill Chamber of Commerce.
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” tells the story of Grace Bradley, who has been put in charge of her church’s Christmas Pageant for the first time. Mrs. Bradley, along with her husband and children, are tasked with casting and working with the Herdman kids, who are probably the most inventively awful kids in history. Hilarity ensues when these miscreants collide, head on, with the Christmas story! The joys of Christmas and its meaning are spread to the Herdmans, along with the entire church’s congregation, which makes Mrs. Bradley’s production “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!”
Casting will be for: four adult men, six adult women, eight male children, nine female children and additional non-speaking roles for all ages.
Anyone auditioning for a speaking role in the production should expect to be asked to perform a “cold reading” from the script on audition day. Ample time will be allotted to prepare before being asked to perform at auditions. Please bring a snapshot of yourself if this is your first time auditioning at the Colonial Center.
Performances of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” will take place on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., December 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 2:30 p.m.
Please note that there will be two “school day matinee” performances of this show on Thursday, Dec. 1. These performances are not open to the public and are provided for local school and homeschool groups only. Please be sure you are available during the day on December 1 before auditioning. (For school-aged performers in the show: The Colonial Center will contact the principals of the performers’ schools and procure permission for the performers to participate in the school day performances. Their absence from school will be excused.)
