‘Beauty and the Beast’ opens this weekend

The Clarksville Community Players’ opening performance of “Beauty and the Beast” will be this Saturday at the Clarksville Fine Arts Center.
The director for the show, Georgene Glasscock, said prepare to be blown away by the beautifully built and decorated set as well as the talent of the excellent cast she has had the pleasure of working with for the past four months.
Glasscock said the cast has been preparing for this show since February with two practices a week moving up to three practices a week in April, all leading to the opening night this weekend. She said the audience should be prepared for a “full blown stage production of the classic Disney musical.”
Portraying the leading characters of Belle, Beast and Gaston are Amber Jones as Belle, Josh Glasscock as Beast and Caleb Greene as Gaston. Portraying the remaining characters will be Scott Caldwell, Jemylah Carter, Charlotte Bradshaw, Summer Bohannon, Ray Cherry, Lucas Glasscock, Marc Carney, Elisabeth Brogden, Katie Hunt, Kayleigh Long, Carla Carden, Jenna Dahl, M.J. Smith, Bo Bohannon, Levi Bohannon, Brad Bradshaw, Andy Caldwell, Becca Caldwell, Evie Caldwell, Hallie Caldwell, Emme Carney, Melissa Panos Carney, Drew Cherry, Leah Cherry, Lauren Greene, Dalton Hamm, Marianna Smeester, Sandy Smeester, Danielle Winn, Dave Winn, Debra Winn and Mikayla Winn.
Everyone involved in the production would like to send their thanks to the Bluestone High School CTE department for its assistance in constructing and designing the set for the show. Glasscock said she has tried her best to have as little public viewing of the set because she wants the audience to be wowed by it on opening night.
“Beauty and the Beast” will open on May 20 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Sunday show at 3 p.m. and finishing on Memorial Day weekend with 7:30 p.m. showings on May 26 and May 27 and a 3 p.m. showing on May 28. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Clarksville Fine Arts Center Box Office Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m.
