Blues Bash returns to Clarksville for second year

The second annual Buggs Island Blues Bash is slated for Saturday, Sept. 24, at Robbins Ballpark in Clarksville.

The event will kick off at 10 a.m., with music beginning at 11 a.m., and run through 10 p.m. that evening.

The event will feature performances from Anni Piper, Skyla Burrell, Sherman Lee Dillon, Woolly and the Wingnutz blues revue, Good Rocking Sam, The Bush League and the Nathan Pope Band, featuring 13-year-old performer Nathan Pope.

The event will also feature arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and concessions.

The Lion’s Club will be on hand offering free eye exams, and NC Photo Booths will also be on site offering costumes and other items to dress up with for photos.

Tickets for this event are $30 in advance and can be obtained from Central Insurance, Southside Marine and Community Pharmacy in Clarksville. Tickets will also be sold at the gate the day of the event for $35 apiece.

Please leave all coolers, glass bottles and pets home the day of the event. Lawn chairs are welcome.

The park where the event will be held is located at 104 Woodland Drive in Clarksville.

A portion of the proceeds for this event will go to benefit the Clarksville Fine Arts Building Revitalization Fund.

Accompanying this year’s Blues Bash, for the first time, will be a weekend-long Slingshot Booze and Blues Rally. This event will run from Thursday, Sept. 22, through Sunday, Sept 25, with all activities centralized at the Magnuson Hotel on the Lake, located directly on Kerr Lake, at 103 Second Avenue in Clarksville.

Kicking off on Thursday, the rally will offer a meet and greet type event at the Magnuson Hotel. Slingshot owners as well as those looking to learn more about the vehicles will have the opportunity to “have an unforgettable time hanging out and making new friends.”

On Friday, a Brewer’s Cycle Lunch will be served at the Magnuson. Following the meal, a Lake Country (motorcycle) Ride will take place. The day will end with an event at the Raleigh Road Theatre.

Saturday will feature a Moonshine Run to the Bondurant Distillery in Chase City, prior to enjoying the Blues Bash throughout the day. Saturday will end with a moonlight ride.

Sunday will offer a Breakfast Bash and a slingshot show.

The event schedule for the Slingshot Rally is subject to slight changes.

This event was organized entirely by Slingshot owners, for slingshot enthusiasts and those interested in them.
