Bread Box organizing Thanksgiving meals
The Bread Box Food Pantry of South Hill is once again organizing its Thanksgiving turkey box distribution for about 250 current clients.
In addition, the local food pantry also distributes some Turkey boxes to hospice and Shepherd’s Inn residents.
“We believe that these needy families deserve a great holiday meal like everyone else, so we strive to do as many as reasonably possible each year,” said Bread Box Food Pantry President Dana Debaets.
All of these turkeys and all the ‘fixins’ that go with them are bought locally at full retail price.
The Bread Box is asking for contributions of $25 or more, which will cover the cost of one Thanksgiving meal or more.
“I recognize as we move into the holiday season, that there will be a lot of various requests for donations. And I hope people respond to those various requests in some form, be it financially or with their time and talents,” Debaets said. “Scripture says that we are blessed so that we may bless others. So if anyone is wanting to directly help a local family in need, donations can be sent to Bread Box, P.O. Box 213, South Hill, or they can be left at the South Hill Chamber of Commerce.”
