CCPD looking for shooters

The Chase City Police Department is asking the public for help with a series of shooting incidents reported inside the community.

Last Saturday night, officers were notified of a possible drive-by shooting incident on Washington Street near Fifth Street. No one was injured in the incident but police were notified by several area residents of shots fired in the area.

Arriving on the scene officers began an investigation but were unable to find the suspect or suspects.
Then, shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday night, multiple shots were fired in the area between Cannery Row and Maple Manor Apartments on W. Second Street.

Speaking on Tuesday, Chief J.A. Jordan of the Chase City Police Department said that the parking lot between the two apartments was filled with people at the time of the shooting incident, including children, parents and bystanders.

No one was struck in the incident, but at least two bullets struck the Pawn Shop located across the street from the area where the shoots were fired.

Jordan said that officers are looking for possibly two shooters in connection with the two cases which, he said, are thought to be related. There was no description of the shooter or shooters.

“We’re asking anyone with information about the individual or individuals involved to contact the Chase City Police Department at 372-4244 or 372-5112,” Jordan said. “These are serious incidents, and the shooting on Monday night could have well turned into a tragedy where children and innocent bystanders could have been struck by gunfire. We feel that both shootings are connected, and we’re asking the public to step up and help us with this.”
