Clarksville Players to hold auditions

The Clarksville Community Players will hold auditions for their final production of the 2016 season with Agatha Christie’s dramatic thriller, “And Then There Were None,” on Thursday, Sept. 8, and Friday, Sept. 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Clarksville Fine Arts Center.

Straight off his last CCP smash hit “Second Samuel,” which brought playwright Pamela Parker to Clarksville, Dr. Fred Motley returns to direct one of the most celebrated mystery authors of all time.

“And Then There Were None” is based on the best-selling mystery novel by Christie. A group of 10 strangers is lured to a mysterious island to discover that their eccentric millionaire host is missing. Stranded by a torrential storm and haunted by a clue-filled nursery rhyme, one by one the guests begin to meet gruesome and untimely ends.

With only the fallen believed innocent, who remaining among them is the killer? Just when you think you have the answers, the story will have you retracing your steps at every turn. This darkly captivating thriller will truly leave you breathless and on the edge of your seat!

Producer Kim Demetriades said, “Dr. Motley is an actor’s director and will only work on a show when it offers really meaty roles for actors that he can help them create and evolve. If you let him teach, you will leave the experience of the show better at your craft.”

Motley is from Danville and is no stranger to CCP. In 2012 he directed Tennessee Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” He has also served as a guest director for Theatre Works in Martinsville, Averett University, Ferrum College, North Carolina A&T State University, Raleigh Little Theatre, Kirby Theatre in Roxboro, Gallery Players in Burlington, N.C., Barber-Scotia College in Concord, N.C., and most recently directed “Ceremonies in Dark Old Men” at Black Theatre Ensemble in Lynchburg.

This production offers some exciting technical effects and opportunities to play with creativity. People interested in working backstage on sets, costumes, props, usher, etc. are also urged to come to auditions.
