Date changes for FOP event
The South Hill Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 51 is gearing up for its annual Golf Tournament, which will be held at the South Hill Country Club on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
While originally scheduled for Oct. 11, the event has been moved back due to the recent exceptionally wet weather.
The tournament is one of the largest fundraisers for the organization and helps to provide funds for the FOP lodge’s many community outreach projects, the largest of which is the holiday season’s Cops and Kids Christmas Shopping event.
Cops and Kids is an annual outreach in which local police officers take children Christmas shopping. Seniors are also included. Annually, the program funds Christmas gifts for dozens of local children and seniors in need.
The lodge is currently seeking teams and hole sponsors for its annual fundraising golf tournament.
The tournament will be held on Nov. 1 with tee-off beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The cost for teams as well as hole sponsors will be $200.
One mulligan per player is included, as well as a meal and prizes for each player.
There will be a $10,000 cash award given for a hole-in-one on hole No. 3 and a $500 Visa gift card awarded to any player making a hole-in-one on hole No. 7.
The organization is also seeking hole sponsors for the tournament. Sponsorships are available for $200 each. The FOP says that one $200 hole sponsorship provides enough funds to shop for one child and one senior citizen.
Additionally, the FOP is also currently seeking any donations of funds or door prizes to be given away at the tournament. For any sponsorships or donations, business names will be displayed or announced and thanked.
