Lawrenceville to host 38th Annual Bluegrass Festival

The 38th Annual Bluegrass and Country Music Festival, hosted by the Virginia Bluegrass and Country Music Foundation, will be held on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23 and 24, in Lawrenceville at George Winn Memorial Park, located at the corner of Rose Drive and Mallard Crossing Road near the airport.

The event this year will feature performances from bands including Homegrown Bluegrass of La Crosse, Some Assembly Required of Poquoson, Va., Frankie, Robert Slavey and Friends of West Point, Va., The Watts Brothers of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Nature Blue of Norfolk, Va., and George Winn and the Bluegrass Partners of Henrico, Va.

On Friday, Sept. 23, the bands will take the stage from 7-11 p.m., with tickets being $6 each. Children under 12 will be admitted free.

On Saturday, the bands will take the stage from 1-11 p.m., with tickets being $9 each. Children under 12 will be admitted free.

Camping will be available throughout the weekend. Campsites with hookups will cost $9 per day and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Camping in the “rough” area, with no hookups, will be free of charge.

This year, the grounds will offer a new bathhouse with bathrooms and showers for campers’ and guests’ convenience.

The event is rain or shine. Should inclement weather arise, the grounds also feature a pavilion shelter.
