MCPS Kindergarten registration upcoming

Mecklenburg County Public Schools will be holding Pre-K, Head Start and Kindergarten registration on Monday March 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For those registering their child in Pre-K, Head Start and Kindergarten a birth certificate, immunization record and two forms of proof of residency must be provided.
Anyone registering their child for Pre-K and Head Start must provide, in addition to the items listed above, proof of income. Proof of income can be provided in the form of a 2017 W-2, 1040 tax form, six most recent pay stubs, current TANF or SSI statement or current SNAP benefits letter with monthly income.
Even if the above items are not currently available, everyone is encouraged to come and register, but those items will need to be provided to the school system by the time your child starts school in the fall.
All parents and guardians registering their child for Pre-K are asked to bring their child with them on registration day as a screening may be conducted during the registration process, if time permits.
Be sure to register your child in his/her attendance zone and bring proof of residency.
Pre-K students must be 4-years-old on or before September 30, Kindergarten students must be 5-years-old on or before September 30 and Head Start students must be 3-years-old up to Kindergarten age.
The Head Start program is free of charge to qualifying families.
