Nash chosen as CA
In Mecklenburg County, Acting Commonwealth’s Attorney R. Allen Nash was elected to the full-time position Tuesday with 11,003 votes, which represented 100 percent of the vote.
Nash was running unopposed to fill the unexpired term of former Commonwealth’s Attorney Nora J. Miller, who was appointed to a judgeship over the summer.
A Brunswick County native who was previously Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Mecklenburg County, Nash took to Facebook Wednesday morning to thank the community for its support.
“I would just like to take a moment to thank every single person that came out and voted yesterday,” he wrote. “The amount of support I received was humbling to say the least.”
Nash noted the position of Commonwealth’s Attorney comes with a title, “Honorable.”
“That word is not just a title to me,” he wrote. “It is an instruction on how to live my life both professionally and personally. I promise you all this not something I take lightly or for granted.
“I truly, from the bottom of my heart, want to thank the Mecklenburg County community. It is a privilege to act as your public servant for the next three years. I will do everything in my power to reward your faith in me, and I look forward to working for every single one of you.”
