Rules announced for Chase City decoration contest
Applications are being taken for the 2017 annual Chase City Christmas Home Decoration Contest sponsored by the Fortnightly Club of Chase City. The contest this year is open only to homes within the town limits of Chase City.
Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in the doorway category, the overall category for both single and two story houses, the novelty category and the religious category.
Also, a white ribbon will b needed for honorable mention if needed. A special Outstanding Blue Ribbon winner will also be presented. The same residence cannot receive this award for two consecutive years.
Judges will be looking at Originality – unique design and creative use of lights and decorations, Arrangement – display and placement of decorations and lights, Theme – contestants should not mix categories such as religious and novelty and Overall Presentation – neatness, use of fresh greens, methods used to obscure spotlights and attach decorations.
In a change for this year, businesses will be considered in a separate category. Again, first, second, third place and honorable mention will be presented. Overall presentation, neatness and originality will be considered for these ribbons and only businesses within the town limits will be judged.
Judging will take place on Tuesday, December 12 at 5:30 PM.
