Teen in custody for Chase City murder

An 18-year-old Chase City man is dead and a 17-year-old is in custody after a shooting incident that took place in the 200 block of Endly Street in the early morning hours on Sunday.
Officers with the Chase City Police Department were dispatched to Endly Street at approximately 12:14 a.m. on Sunday morning for a report of shots fired. On arrival, the officers found 18-year-old Evan Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Both the Chase City Rescue Squad and the Southside Rescue Squad from South Hill were dispatched to the scene and the victim was transported to the Chase City Municipal Airport where he was airlifted to VCU-MCV Hospital in Richmond. Evans later died from his injuries.
Members of the Chase City Police Department, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Southside Regional Drug and Gang Task Force spent Sunday investigating the crime scene and an un named 17-year-old was arrested and transported to the W.W. Moore Detention Facility in Danville.
Charges in the case are pending and additional information will be forthcoming.
