Traffic stop leads to marijuana bust
A pair of male subjects passing through Mecklenburg were issued summons for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Hwy 58 last week,
On Tuesday, Feb. 13, Mecklenburg County Sgt. Andy Ramsey, while on patrol, observed a vehicle traveling in the westbound lanes of Hwy 58, with a headlight out.
Ramsey initiated a traffic stop in the area of Triangle #2.
While speaking with the driver, Ramsey detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When Ramsey asked the driver about the marijuana smell the passenger became very nervous and advised that the marijuana was on his person.
Recovered from the passenger was a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance. A search of the vehicle led to recovering glass jar containing green leafy substance. Both substances were tested and tested positive for marijuana.
Both subjects- Stephen McDaniel 46, of Keeling Va. And Joshua Fowlkes 21, of Dry Fork Va. were issued summons for possession of marijuana with pending court date.
