Vehicles shot at on interstate

The South Hill Police Department is investigating a pair of shooting incidents that occurred on Interstate 85 Sunday night within moments of each other.
According to South Hill Police Chief Stuart Bowen, the first report of someone shooting BBs or pellets from the side of the interstate into an occupied vehicle came in 11 p.m. and the second report came at 11:14 p.m.
The incidents took place near the 14-mile marker on the Interstate 85 southbound lanes. Each vehicle was struck in the front passenger side window.
Bowen said no one was injured, but both vehicles sustained damage.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police assisted the South Hill Police Department in the initial search for the shooter. No subject was located, but evidence was collected.
The investigation remains open and ongoing.
